Mrs. Elioenai Abena Adu-Labi
Mrs. Elioenai Abena Adu-Labi is currently the Acting Chief Director, of the Office of the Head of Civil Service. She joined the Civil Service in 1977, after having completed her National Service, teaching English and Literature at the Christian Methodist Senior High School, Accra.
Her career spans over a period of 37 years, haven’t worked in various capacities at the ministry of Justice, the Interior, Trade and Industry, Employment and Social Welfare and at the Regional Co-ordinating Council, Greater Accra.
Mrs. Adu-Labi is an ardent believer in the adage “Live Pure, Speak True, Right Wrong and Follow the King” a principle she imbibed from her Alma mater, Wesley Girls High School. After passing her Ordinary Level and Advanced Level exams 1971 and 1973 respectively, she was admitted into the University of Ghana in 1973 where she graduated with a Honorary Degree in English with Modern History.
She also holds a Post-graduate diploma in Public Administration, from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) 1980, a certificate in Public Sector Administration from the Royal Institute of Management & Public Administration, London 1986, a certificate in Senior Management Development from GIMPA 1994 and an executive masters in Public Administration from GIMPA.
As part of her professional career development in the Civil Service, Mrs. Adu-Labi had the opportunity to attend courses in the United Kingdom on Public Sector Administration, a conference on South African refugees and displaced persons and an OAU regional summit on refugees, Accra.
Mrs. Adu Labi has to her credit an unpublished thesis presented in 1980 on:
- Government Policy in Relation to the Working Mother.
- Government Policy in Relation to the Working Mother, 1980.
The past Chief Director is an active member of the Wesley Girls High School (Old Girls Association) she also belongs to the Women’s movement in Christian Denomination and a member of the Ghana Chapter Association of Public Administration and Management. (GAPAM)
Mrs. E.A. Adu-Labi is a deaconess in her Christian Church and also in the Women’s Ministry. She is an ardent reader and loves listening to gospel and classical music, she loves writing.
Mrs. Adu-Labi is happily married to Mr. K.O. Adu-Labi, a former advisor to the Governors of the Bank of Ghana and His Excellency Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Arthur, the current Vice President of the Republic of Ghana. They have five young adults, four daughters and a son.
